An MUN, or Model United Nations, is a student-led conference that concerns itself with attempting to solve worldwide issues, with students representing nations as delegates. There are rules to maintain decorum, and all the procedures of the real-world UN are taken into account. Although as strict as it may sound, since the conference is entirely student-organized, there is always room for a little extra fun.

This year, our MUN dealt with the issue of the regulation of global population. The students proposed various solutions, most of which had never been thought of before. To ensure that the discussion did not slow down, it was decided to introduce a special delegation of DOGE (the current U.S. Ministry for Government Efficiency), headed by a special team tasked with proposing unorthodox solutions. They were successful in this endeavour. Other delegations, such as China, viewed morality as voluntary; on the flipside, delegations such as Slovakia were the voice of reason. A special mention goes to the delegate of Ukraine, who, despite pressure from many states, still managed to speak for his assigned country and represented it wonderfully.

After the speeches of the delegates, the resolution was voted on and successfully passed, managing to create a framework for a safe future in which the population count will be regulated in a humanitarian manner.

Of course, as with every year, certain delegations did not fully abide by the rules and had to face consequences. The delegation of Ukraine had to dance to Rasputin, and the delegation of Poland was forced to sing their own anthem—fun was mandatory.

This being our first event that included students from outside schools, we give a commendation to the delegations of the U.S. and Russia, who represented their nations wonderfully and brought strong arguments to the discussion. The organizers also give a special mention to the delegate of Israel, who, under unforeseen circumstances, still managed to contribute to the event.

Thank you everyone who decided to join this year and we hope this event gave you more confidence in public speaking!
